I thought this was exceptionally good.
I think Eminem’s recent tracks have been awesome and for Gary, from Central Christian Church in Vegas to rock his story through it was inspirational.

I’m sure the under-30 crowd flipped when they heard Eminem playing over the PA in church. But hasn’t Christian culture already ripped off Eminem with KJ-52?
Eminem is on my list of “I wish they were a Christian” people. The original lyrics are incredible (minus the language). The lyrics are about conquering his past mistakes and screw ups and starting over again and cleaning his life up and taking responsibility for his actions and his family.
There’s definitely something to say about a guy who’s life fell apart a few years ago who is able to come back virtually out of nowhere, produce a song about his life, and shoot to the top of the charts again with one song. I wasn’t at all a fan of Eminem when he first came out several years ago even though I recognized that his rapping skills blew the rest of the genre out of the water. But I’ve come close to buying this latest album several times, but I can’t justify owning a CD with so much language in it. Although I don’t have the same problem with language in a movie usually.

Interestingly enough, I found the song to be a distraction from the reality of the story. They story he rapped was laced with truth and God’s provision. Very powerful.
But when they busted into the pop song chorus, I was reminded that this was a church just copying a song and putting Jesus-y words in it.
If they would have just wrote a rap, laid some beats and allowed the same story to be told….
