Now that’s a blog post title you don’t see every day!
Be prepared to be wow-ed by these very cool nature inspired sculptures.
And what makes them even more nice and geeky it that they’re 3D printed!

These epic 3D printed sculptures, called blooms, were created by John Edmark, an inventor/designer/artist who teaches design at Stanford University.
The design of the sculptures comes from the same patterns found within things from nature like pinecones and sunflowers. All of the spirals in the sculptures are Fibonacci numbers.
The blooms were designed to animate when spun under a strobe light. For the video, the camera used a very short shutter speed (1/4000 sec) to film the spinning sculptures.

Since I first saw this video it’s stayed at the back of my mind as an inspiration.
