Facebook has specifically stated that the future of social networking and the majority of online traffic will be from mobile platforms.
With such a huge focus on this, Facebook has made specific moves to develop their mobile platforms with a much needed improved Facebook App, the recent addition of the Facebook Pages App, and the one billion dollar acquisition of Instagram.
Now, they have made another step with the Facebook Camera iOS app.
You can download the Facebook Camera app here. The hope is that they can improve, increase, and hopefully become the standard for online photo and video content from mobile devices. Here are a couple of quick thoughts about it as well as a few screenshots.
- They have already incorporated the Instagram effects for all photos you want to upload.
- You can easily upload multiple photos to your page.
- You can make a post to your Facebook wall and tag friends straight from this app.
- Unfortunately, this is the fourth Facebook app. Getting kind of cluttered.
What do you think?
Is Facebook taking a step in the right direction?

I honestly would rather see them find a way to integrate the Facebook, Messenger, and Camera app all into one. Seems a bit cumbersome to use a separate app for each of the different functions.

I agree.

It would be nice, but if the trade off was a slow running, bloated app because of all the features, I think that it would lose its appeal… I do not need the messenger and camera features loading just so I can Facebook stalk people. 😉

Ha valid point. I think that there are issues with switching between apps that takes up time as well. I’m sure that Facebook picked what they felt was the lesser of two evils, as I do not want bloated and cluttered applications either.
Eric Dye says
Good point.
