While surfin’ the net last week, I came across a really well designed site.
It was simple—which I liked—but they had added some really subtle CSS effects.
That’s exactly what I thought of when I came across this CSS resource, Effeckt.css:

I was elbow deep in a new website I am working on in WordPress and I wanted to add some social buttons for sharing not only posts, but pages, too.
That’s when I ran into a problem.
I wanted to lean on Jetpack’s social share buttons, since I was running it anyway. The problem with Jetpack, however, is that social share buttons are only allowed to reside inside the WordPress Loop. I would not be able to place them anywhere, else.
That wasn’t okay with me. I wasn’t about to sacrifice my design.

I remember the first website I ever designed.
I used a visual web design tool.
Using a Corel program—yes, I just said Corel—I designed with a split screen, the visual editor being the larger of the split, leaving a sliver of code visible to learn a little HTML along the way.
My next brush with working on a website, I found myself in a similar situation. This time I was using Macromedia’s Dreamweaver 3. Again, I used a split view, primarily using the visual editor. When I began to dive into Fireworks’ slices and slick export features, I thought I had pretty much “arrived.”
Fast forward to today and I find myself taking a much different approach to website design, wrangling directly with the code.
Could there be a return to visual web design tools?

Connecting your website (personal, church, ministry, non-profit or business) to social networks is a great way to boost your web traffic and build a bridge between your website and deep networks of connections. It’s like building exits to your website off the superhighway’s of social media.
It’s essential.
So, as I began to work on a new website for a client of mine, I wanted to make sure I was getting the most out of the connections with Twitter, Facebook and Google+. Since Jetpack was limited and I wanted to create a deeper interactive user experience with these three major social connections, I decided to look at their social plugins.
That’s when I realized it was Monday.
