Starting Something New
Welcome! Why am I welcoming you you ask? Because, this is the intro to a brand new series I’ll be writing on different blogging tools and services! Now that I’ve been writing for 78P for almost 6 months, I see the importance in communicating clearly and effectively online. I’ve always seen having an online presence as a necessity for churches and ministries, but now I have an even deeper appreciation for a well curated blog or article.
Over the next month or two, I’ll be dedicating several posts on different online and mobile blogging platforms, and I’m in the process of narrowing down my final list. I know of about 2 or 3 I’m definitely writing on, and some I know I’m not. On the “not” list are Google Drive, Evernote, and Springpad. Why you ask? It’s not because they stink as blogging tools, because that’s simply not true (I frequent Drive quite often for my writing needs). The reason is simply because I’ve covered these platforms, with their merits and pitfalls, before in a previous series. To be nice, here are the links for Drive, Evernote and Springpad for your viewing pleasure.
I Need Your Help!
Now, the internet is a big place. It’s by far the biggest zoo I’ve ever visited! So I’m asking for your help. Please, give me some feedback. What tools have you found helpful for your online writing needs? I’d like to cover some great resources, and that will include some I’m sure I’ve never even heard of (yet). This is your chance to get involved. Drop a comment below with what service you use and why you like it, and if I choose to review it, I’ll include your comment and respond to it in the article! As an added bonus, those chosen (2 max) will receive some swag a la 78P tshirt! They’ll be in the mail by February 28, so get those comments coming!

I would definitely recommend Microsoft SkyDrive (soon OneDrive) and it’s free online Office apps. I use Word and OneNote to organize and write.

Awesome! Sounds good! As a guy who is HEAVILY invested in Google, I never give Microsoft products too much time. But I like the aesthetics of a lot of their revamps recently, so I look forward to checking it out!

@robnhl:disqus I can’t even apologize enough for how long this has taken!! Please, send your shirt size and shipping info to [email protected] and we’ll get you a shirt ASAP!! Also, if you want to be notified when my review of OneDrive and/or OneNote, provide a link to your favorite social media profile and I’ll send you a personal link myself 😉

How about a review of Copy? Or maybe a comparison of the big cloud storage-services.
Jesse Gruber says
Oooh. Not a bad idea at all 😉

I use the WordPress app to draft blog posts when I am on planes. It works a treat on my Samsung note 8 and when I’m in the mood to scratch out a few posts at 30,000 feet it meets the need.
I also use Feedly to browse hundreds of blogs for inspiration and information for many things including blogging.
IFFTT comes in handy at times as well as Pocket for saving useful info for another day.
I’m a power user of evernote but don’t use it as often for writing blog posts since I switched to the WordPress app.
That’s it for me.
I’ll take the XL t shirt and send it air express to Australia!

I’ve used a lot of those services! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who jumps ecosystems to accomplish their tasks. I’ve never tried IFFTT, I’ve been needing to play around with it. Seems like a useful tool.

@finkelde:disqus sorry for the super long delay! Currently, our funds won’t account for an Australia shipment 😉 However, feel free to email [email protected] to receive one of our e-books for free! Here’s the link to check out the titles (https://churchm.ag/ebook/), and thanks for all your info. I actually just signed up for an IFFTT account and I look forward to seeing what kind of power it’s got under the hood 😉
