Thomas Kinkade may have been a well-known artist, but for many people his art is a bit too…sweet. Safe. Perfect.
But when you combine Kinkade’s art with Star Wars, that’s just plain awesome. The result: Wars on Kinkade.

My son is five years old and I love the way he treats technology. He handles my iPad like a pro, does interactive games on the TV, and loves to Google for toys with me. One of the things we often do together is watch pictures on Google images, for instance of planets, dinosaurs, or castles.
That’s why many of the facts in this infographic about the wired child and how tech kids these days grow up in a digital age resonated with me. I see my son do these things, know these things, and display an intuitive grasp of how digital technology works.
Luckily, he still also loves to play outside, climb in trees, and get all muddy and dirty. Boys should be boys after all.

I started Youth Leaders Academy over two years ago. We had just moved from The Netherlands to Germany because my husband got a job there. As it turned out, it wasn’t possible for me to get a job. So I decided to use my many years of experience in youth ministry to start a blog. Thus Youth Leaders Academy was born.
My primary goal wasn’t to make money. Believe me, I would have chosen a different niche because there isn’t much money to make off poorly paid youth pastors 🙂
I just wanted to serve and help other with my experience. I was in a place where I couldn’t work as a youth pastor, but I still wanted to stay involved in youth ministry and help others serve better in their ministry.
This just made me laugh. It’s so incredibly happy in a tongue-in-cheek Disney way that I just smiled the whole way through.
Go ahead, I promise it will brighten your day.

Facebook always remains a bit of a mystery for many people. They try very hard to increase their reach of Facebook, get people to Like and comment on their posts. But the question is: What works?
This infographic shows some tried recipes for Facebook engagement. Some are valid I think, like using shorter posts and posting images. But other suggestions always make me laugh a bit.
I’m sure there are good times and bad times to post something on Facebook. But the suggestion that for every single brand or page, Wednesday 3 p.m. EST is the absolute best time, is just funny to me. Doesn’t that depend on the type of people you’re trying to reach and their habits? What about time zones? Because 3 p.m. EST is 9 p.m. Central European time for instance and I can guarantee you, that’s a bad time to post something if you want people from Europe to respond!
Still, it’s always good to stay up to date with what supposedly works for Facebook engagement.

I had very mixed reaction when I saw this art piece by Zack Myrow.
He wants you to take the Bible with a grain of salt.
Literally.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, the artist explained that:
