Social media is but a form of communication for us to be able to engage people in a different medium where people are. When used well, this web application can be the instrument of major success with increased attendance at your events, more visibility for your church, and clever ways to celebrate your staff, volunteers, and the work your congregation is doing. But as with any tool, there are unique and sometimes perilous barriers to using social media safely.
Tech Wreck Tuesday #19: No More Juice
I have no doubt that you have had situations where you had no more power in your phone’s battery at some point in your life. How are you going to send out that next tweet? The Angry Birds need you to fight those pigs! Without a phone, how will you document your life on Instagram or Vine?
Of course, those things are silly, but one time with my youth group, not having power was less than funny. Here is why you need to save your power when in ministry.
Logo Designs: Youth for Christ Case Example
A logo can say a lot about a company before you ever read the tagline, learn about the mission statement, or see the company in action. Are Digital Devices Destroying Relationships? [Infographic]
Have you ever used your phone to text someone or update your Facebook status while having a conversation with someone? Maybe you were brave enough to do it during work and in a meeting with your boss? Have you had arguments due to phone use?
The infographic below labels this disrespect for face-to-face conversations and “in real live” meetings as Electronic Displays of Insensitivity or EDIs. While it would be funny to mock these situations, people really do have problems with technology and it threatens people’s employment and relationships.

10 Resources for Your Church to Fight Porn
This is the eighth article in the series The Fight Against Porn series.
This year’s attack on pornography is pressing in strong, but we are at a critical point. It is good if we here at 78p.tv stand against pornography, but we are one voice. Instead of just shouting that we are on the offensive, we would rather equip your ministries, congregations, and leadership to take a part in this journey.
We all believe that pornography is bad. But simply reciting a statement and doing nothing about it is meaningless. No. I challenge you right now to take up arms yourself and fight too. Next week we will put together a strategy for your church technology ministry. Until then, look at the resources below and figure out which ones will work for your ministry.
