Nice! And here I am with my pathetic 1.2Mb/0.3Mb connection. Hopefully the new modem due to arrive today (and ISP network upgrades later this year) will improve that. If only Time Warner would add just 3000 feet to their cable line (that would also cover a fairly large hotel that’s down the road).
BenJPickett says
See if you can get a few people to show interest to the cable company. Talked to Wave recently and they said they would run the cable at their expense with enough interest in the area, turns out enough interest only meant 3 potential customers. After we rallied some of the local businesses the proposed time line in the area is Q1 2011. They’ll be running up to about 2000 feet to get the included area connected if the closest drop they have is where I think it is.
Matt Phelps says
Past experience with this company is you have to pay them to extend the line, even if there is enough interest. Why companies make you pay them to connect you to a service so you can pay them for the service is beyond me. It’s worth a shot, though.
BenJPickett says
I’d give it a try, make sure your not talking to one of the people that answer the phones and head into the local office too. You stand a lot more of a chance getting someone that can pull those strings to listen that way. Then when you know what they’ll do and what they won’t head out to some of the businesses in the area, find out their connection speed and see if they’d be interested in getting on board. Businesses will pull a lot more weight from ISPs because they need some of the extras like static IP addresses and more.
