Mark Jaquith has released a new and simple plugin called, Menu Humility.
It’s a simple plugin that can take care of some annoying plugins that act like their all important.
Example: JetPack
JetPack is great, there’s no doubt, but it doesn’t belong between my Dashboard and Posts. Same goes for VaultPress.
Here’s Mark’s description:
Some plugins (I’m looking at you, Automattic) put top level nav menus in the first menu group, right under “Dashboard.” This is annoying. These things are invariably less important than your posts, pages, comments, etc. This simple plugin (with no UI) shoves these line-cutting menus to the bottom, where they belong.
You can install Mark Jaquith’s WordPress plugin from within the WordPress dashboard or download it from the WordPress plugin repository.

This proves another great reason I love Worpress. Even Automatic can be controlled by the owner.

Awesome, right?!?

What I would love is the code to do it via code rather than have a possible clunky plugin to worry about.

I hear this is a light-function plugin, not heavy at all. I know what you mean, though. Code first, I say. This is nice though, since you can’t update hacked-up plugins without it undoing menu placement, etc …
Depends on the project, I suppose, and how many you have annoying you 😉
