If there’s anything that we’ve learned about the Facebook UI, it’s always changing. With the new personal page layout being rolled out recently, it was only time before the “Pages” would be getting a welcome face-lift, too.
That time is now.
As usual, Facebook gives users the test drive option. All the Pages will be converted (aka: “upgraded”) on March 10th, but you can take the plunge early if you like.
This isn’t just a face-lift, though. There are a number of nice changes to the core of how Pages work. My favorite “upgrades” enable administrators to cultivate the social side of Facebook, something that was really missing before. The whole Pages experience has evolved into more of a personal user experience with news feeds and the likes.
The most powerful change gives the ability for Page administers to “Use Facebook as [PAGE]”. You can switch back to your personal account at anytime. A very powerful feature, I think.
So, what does it all mean? Will 8BIT leave a message on your wall?
Maybe.

Saw this last week when setting up a new page. Very much like the idea of using facebook as page. Haven’t played with it yet, but it is a tool that Pages was decidedly lacking.

They seem to be moving in the right direction.

I just tried this and I’m glad that I did – it showed me new fans and a very important comment that I otherwise would have missed. The fact that I missed it in the first place was – to be honest – bad protocol.
I’ll definitely use it on a daily basis.

Awesome!
I’ll be paying better attention to my Facebook Pages page as well.

“So, what does it all mean? Will 8BIT leave a message on your wall?”
Not yet. From what I read it seems that Pages can post only on other Pages.
This is one reason my public personal presence on FB is still a profile and not a page; it allows me to be much more proactive in making connections and managing them.

You’re absolutely correct. I’ve tried it myself. You can leave messages on other Pages and the News Feed is based on which Pages your own Page “Likes” (confused, yet? LOL!).
Just give Facebook a few months, and 8BIT will be able to leave a message on your wall.
Maybe.
