Vimeo continues to increase it’s value to Pro users by increasing the maximum upload size to 5Gb of video.
According to them, that’s 2.5 hours of HD video. It’s pretty amazing how far online video has come in the past 3 years.
They now also support custom URL’s for each video. Here’s what they had to say about that:
For example, that same video can also be reached via http://vimeo.com/staff/video-editing-basics. Custom URLs combine both your custom profile URL (in this case “staff”) and a word or sentence you choose.
Now your links can have some context wherever you share them. One last note: this is only a redirect for now. That means it’s purely aesthetic (no SEO value) and you will always be end up at the “numbered” version of the video page.
Living in a World of HD Video
The cost of producing high quality broadcasts is dropping *so* fast. Of course, it still costs money, but improvements like this make it easier for churches to take advantage of online video.
In fact, if you were to use a recorded service and upload it to Vimeo, you could use Live Theme ($99) and Vimeo Plus to broadcast online for $10/month! While this certainly isn’t the best solution, I imagine some churches, and maybe even bloggers, would consider using it for an ad-free HD video experience. On the otherhand, the HD plan from LiveStream is a whopping $350/month.
I’d say that it’s almost too easy to not post your sermons online as video.
