Have you ever been doing something random in life and thought,
“There is a good lesson in this.”
Even better are those times when you are doing something and you realize that there is a great scriptural application to whatever it is you are doing. Maybe you hear a song on the radio and realize how similar it is to scripture, or that the concept obviously is directly from the Bible. Next time you watch a Superman movie try and catch everything that is sort of like something from the Bible.
You might be surprised.
It is not only in songs and movies that we see things that seem to have been taken from scripture or that might remind us of something found there. Believe it or not, video games can also lead us towards the Bible. This is not true for all video games just as it isn’t for every movie ever made, but I think there are some games where we can at least learn a Biblical lesson as we play.
The game that this series will be focusing on is Minecraft. This game has become one of my favorites and is basically the only game I play somewhat regularly. I have been playing it for a few years now and have always thought there was something about it that could lead to some great lessons learned. Once I sat down and really though about it I started coming up with ideas for devotionals based on the game.
Over the next few weeks, I want to share those devotionals with you.
Maybe you are a twenty-nine year old new dad who doesn’t have as much time for video games as you once did, but can find time to read a devotional. Maybe you don’t even play Minecraft or any other video game, but someone in your family does. If so, share these devotionals with them. They like video games and you like to evangelize. Make everyone happy!
For the next 13 weeks we will be exploring Minecraft and our Bible.

I run a Minecraft program as a youth director and I always scramble to find a quick devotion or find some way to tie in some game play to the Bible. I’m excited to use these for the next 13 weeks. I think the kids are gunna love them and I love the message. Keep up the good work (feel free to write more 🙂

I’m glad you are able to use them! We are in the process of converting the series into an e-book also. Keep looking out for that one. 🙂

THANK YOU! I teach a small group of kids at my church who are ALL Minecraft fans. I have been searching HIGH and LOW for a way to bring Minecraft into a Bible Study! You should really work on developing this further.
BTW…the KIDS LOVE THIS SERIES! I’m thankful, as a busy mom, I actually know enough about the game that I when I talk and teach I actually know what I’m talking about.
