One of the biggest and greatest parts of the new timeline feature for ministries is the upgrade for images. We are officially a visual society, from entertainment with television or movie theaters to saving memories through Pinterest and scrapbooking. The move to a better visual integration was the next necessary step.

The larger photos that can be not only shown up on the timeline, but highlighted for viewing is perfect for showing off teenagers, volunteers, or other parts of the ministry. Be effective and strategic with the photos you pick, be consistent and frequent with uploading them, and ensure that you have the rights and permission of everyone you post photos of.
Above and below are a couple of great examples by youth ministries that used their cover photos that highlight their ministry with pictures of teenagers. It is the perfect example of promoting teens that have participated in different events like feed the homeless, paintballing, at a sports event, or something else that is the perfect opportunity for photos.
How are you going to impliment images into your Facebook page?

Hey you mention about permissions for pictures. Just curious how this works in a large group environment. Our weekly outreach service, we want to take pictures to document and place on facebook like this post mentioned – which we have started doing and see major results from it. What do we need to do, so we can take pictures of students and post them? I’ve read some different things, and just curious your take about permissions in large group outreach with many new students style environment.

For both Youth for Christ and Young Life, the two organizations I work with, our policy is that we do not post any photos without explicit written consent from each person or their parents that is in the photo and you can clearly see their face.
Thus, it is required that they filled out the form before going on any trip, coming to any youth group, or really doing anything with us. The form is just one of the many that they have to fill out, no matter what. If they check “No, I do not want you to use my photo” then we have to leave all of those photos out.
The hope is that we protect them, ourselves, and the overall name of the ministry.
