I’ve been lucky (blessed?) not to ever have had a “cyberstalker” and hopefully it’ll stay that way forever. I’m not interested and I simply don’t have time to manage that type of junk.
Part of this is probably because I’m not a famous person and I don’t use Facebook as much as many other people. It’s just easy to avoid with all the other online properties.
But, let’s say that you were a victim of a cyberstalker – how do you get rid of them? Apparently you do these three things:
- Call the National Center of Victims of Crime (1-800-FYI-CALL)
- Keep all copies of emails, texts, voice mails, etc.
- Don’t respond. Ever.
You can read more about the other “levels” of engagement and stalkery here in this article from CNN.
Creepy.

Just had this happen to a lady friend of mine. Terrified her. Ruined her life.

I’ve been ignoring someone for 5 years and yet he still stalks. He sends me a message at least once a year, and nonstop fake profile friend requests every month.
In the beginning it was very malicious, spreading lies, constant harassment.. now it’s him begging and pleading that I talk to him. It’s bizarre. I can’t take it anymore. I’m working on deleting all social media, sucks that I can’t do anythjng without this freak finding out about it and bothering me.
