As you move closer and closer to choosing the right online video and live stream provider for your web services you’re going to have to do a number of things to make sure you’ve targeted your approach and strategy correctly.
For example, you may have to consider these 5 things before you make a decision. In addition, here are 3 mistakes that I’ve seen organizations make and I hope they can help you steer clear!
Check them:
1. Not Getting Quality
A live video stream requires quality software and hardware. You’re going to want to get as close as possible with “commercial grade” quality as possible. If you don’t you’ll spend more time having to upgrade later and/or fixing problems that more robust solutions provide.
Get a good solution and think twice about a consumer-grade streaming provider. This is your ministry we’re talking about – are you willing to trust faulty equipment and software to them?
2. Not Paying Something
Free products are a dime-a-dozen and the thing with free products and the businesses that develop and distribute them is that they are “cost effective” which means that they will typically offer lower bit-rates and quality.
In addition, just because a free service offers a paid service doesn’t mean the paid service is going to be any better than the free service. It’s typically better to jump in on a paid product and grow from there if the money and finances are there.
3. Not Having Administration
There are a lot of solutions out there that can offer a videos streaming service but that don’t have a robust back-end management tool that makes it all easy. Without one, most people and organizations will have to put up money for management and extra manpower to handle the new service.
In addition, administration tools should have metrics and analytics involved as well. You’re going to want more than just the number of visits – what about number of stream pulls, geo-location, and more? Find a good video streaming provider that has a powerful suite of administration tools.
One of the organizations that I believe in is 316 Networks that provides robust quality streams, administration panels, and has a great staff that believes in your mission as a ministry and church. Check them out.
