So much has been written and is being written daily about social media that you wonder sometimes if there’s anything new to report.
This infographic didn’t really make me go ‘wow’, but it did actually highlight some interesting statistics:
- The age group with the fastest growth are the 45-54 year olds, which proves that social media are growing up
- Twitter is the fastest growing social medium and what’s even more interesting is that the new users turn out to be active tweeters, thereby reducing the percentage of passive or unused accounts
- That being said: Facebook remains the most addictive network (though I wonder how long people’s loyalty to Facebook will last with all the controversial features they’re rolling out like the sponsored posts and the tracking of people’s searches!)
One statistic did make me wonder:
The fact quoted here that Facebook has the greatest impact on purchase behavior (with Twitter scoring dramatically low here). I would have thought that was Pinterest, but maybe they didn’t include this social medium at all in this research? It seems Google+ is missing as well…
