Blogging is as much a science (think SEO) as an art form. It means that you need to be creative in your content, but structured in your delivery. What this also means is that everyone has ideas on what it means to post a “perfect” blog post, much as the infographic below shares.
I’m going to highlight the infographic below with what I think is valuable for churches, but I want to be clear here. Bloggers who say they have the perfect blog post are probably lying. And if they are not lying, they have the perfect blog post for them, in their industry, and that moment in time.
Unless they are a pastor or Christian blogging for a ministry with a similar community that has a similar target audience which includes a similar online audience, a “perfect blog post” should only be seen as best practices.
Here are the best thoughts from the infographic below:
- 92% of successful articles had social buttons. How else are you going to let your viewers share your great thoughts?
- The average number of links in an article (which they say is 1,100+ words) is 9.96. Why is this important? Now people can navigate within your article to other places on your website. If you mention your youth group, link to the page. Talk about an upcoming event? Share where the signup page is.
- The average title length was 50.7 characters. Not vague, but not overwhelming.
What do you think your perfect blog post is right now?
