It’s no joke.
Online pornography will hook into you and destroy your life.
We’ve talk about online pornography on ChurchMag before and how vulnerable you can become with a mobile device, and I’ve found an app that can aid you in your defense against online pornography!
X3watch
Here’s how it works:
When you’re browsing the Internet and you access a site that may contain questionable material, the X3watch records the site name, time and date it was visited. X3watch will then send a weekly email containing the info in question to an accountability partner of your choice.
The only possible problem I can see with X3watch, is that it works within its own browser, so I’m not sure if you’ll run into any page rendering problems, however, I think we can all agree that staying “clean” is more important. Plus, this is a mobile device. Save your fancy browsing for your desktop/laptop.
Features include:
- X3watch is opt-in.
- The X3watch notification icon in the top bar is a reminder X3watch is monitoring your activity.
- X3watch isn’t easily hacked or avoided once activated.
- It tracks the correct info, not email, photos and phone calls.
- More!
X3watch is available for your iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices and will only cost you about $7.
A small price to pay, I think.
If you use X3watch, please, tell us about it! Would love to hear how well it works!

Always an important topic. I believe that X3 is still only hitting a few platforms (Android and iOS). We have a few more similar apps listed here: http://mobileministrymagazine.com/bibles-for-mobile-devices/#accountability
I’d like to see these apps on feature phones and address SMS, not just web. There’s a lot of ground that can be covered here, but there are some significant technical challenges. And routes towards healing, rebuke, and counseling also tend to come into play.
Timely article.

Thanks, Antoine!

For Verizon users there’s also the option of turning on content filters – they’re free. No need for a third party browser and it filters all activity on the phone – unless you’re connected via wifi… That’s the only downfall…

If you’re a techie and have rooted your phone, x3watch doesn’t work on a rooted Android device.
