Are you familiar with CSS Resets?
When you “reset” you essentialy override the basic CSS stylesheet that the browser uses to style the page. If you don’t use one then the page will still be styled but to a very limited extent. By using a reset though you’re level-setting the fundamental CSS style and elements so that the browser’s aren’t in control.
