This infographic is a little creepy to me. Let me give you a glimpse into my own world. I am personally finishing up my Masters in Mental Health Counseling this May and looking to make a big switch in careers this summer from youth ministry and social media through Youth for Christ/USA into some kind of counseling career.
I know where I want to work, but have no idea where to start with the application process. Everything I have known to this point has been through contacts in the ministry I was going into. Now I am venturing into the unknown and so the infographic below is extremely helpful. If you are going into a new job, I’d challenge you to check it out and if you are an employer, this is a great avenue for better quality employees.
Here are three stats I am taking to heart from the infographic:
- 45% of employers admit checking out candidates on social media. Facebook the most used network.
- While some of the reasons employers look at your online profiles is to see if you have the ability to be professional, they also want to know how you would fit into the company and learn more about you that a form cannot catch.
- How you present yourself online can get you hired or ignored. Top reasons: Professional image (57%), Wide range of interest (50%), inappropriate content posted (50%)
