If you’ve always wanted to install WordPress, Drupal or any other CMS on your computer for web development and design, but was overwhelmed with all the details, give BitNami a try.
Normally you have to setup a local testing environment like a regular server. Setup your MAMP or XAMP, setup your MySQL and install your favorite CMS flavor.
With BitNami, you execute an all-in-one file that installs everything you need, all at once. Setting up a virtual machine and cloud server has never been this easy!
BitNami
BitNami comes in all sorts of flavors–stacks, CMS’ and more. They also support all your favorite OS’: Windows, OS X and Linux.
A BitNami Stack is an integrated software bundle that includes a web application and all of its required components (web server, database, language runtime), so it is ready to run out of the box. The Stacks can be deployed as traditional Native Installers, Virtual Machine Images or Cloud Images. Native installers are single file executables that you download to your machine. When double-clicked, they walk you through each step of the automated installation process.
Not easy enough? Look them up on the Mac App Store.

I will absolutely give this a try, but skeptical that it has as much control over the environment as W/M/XAMP..
As always you guys are at the tip of the spear!

I would tend to agree, Jeremy. However, this may be a really nice solution for those who are just starting or just want to hobby around. Or maybe it’s AWESOME! Let me know what you think. 🙂
