Have you tried Windows 8?
Microsoft has released a consumer preview of Windows 8 completely for free.
Simply follow Microsofts steps to see if your machine can handle it, begin the download, and then go do something else.
It could take a while for those 3+ gigs to download. 😉
What do you think of this new UI?
Lucky, you can easily revert to the Windows desktop style we have always known. This new look is rooted in the Windows Mobile Metro UI and tightens the gap between touch devices and desktop. However, after watching numerous videos on how the new UI functions, I don’t see what would compele anyone to us the new UI with a traditional PC or laptop.

I’m not a big fan of it. Things that were once easily accessible take some more time (and effort) to find and execute. The way Windows 8 utilizes multiple monitors is also a little bit frustrating, at times. For one thing, it is difficult to control the “edge menus” when you have a secondary screen next to the primary screen.

It looks frustrating. I haven’t used it, but a techie friend of mine—whose opinion I trust completely—said that he doesn’t know how the Windows 8 design team wasn’t fired after the first in-house beta.

Well, it would work great if you are working with a tablet. But for power users using full workstations, I view the Metro interface as clunky and inefficient. I thought it would be kinda cool until I really got my hands on it.
Another potential issue for churches running presentation software on multiple screens – the “start menu” (without a start button, I might add) actually displays on every screen rather than just the primary monitor.

YIKES!

Whoa. That’s huge. There are enough users with a multi monitor setup, this will certainly have to be addressed.
Stephen Peterson says
There’s probably a fix for it. I just haven’t done a lot of research on it.
