We’ve got blogs, video blogs, photoblogs, tumblelogs, and photoblogs. Why stop now?
Vocal blogging logically follows, right? Let’s see…
Matt Mullenweg – you know, the creator of WordPress – recently shared that WordPress now offers the ability to publish audio posts to your blog via your phone:
Post by Voice is a way to publish audio posts to your blog from your phone. You call a phone number, enter a secret code, record a message, and we handle the rest.
On one hand, I think this could be kind of cool – say you’re at a conference, out with a couple of friends, or attending a concert and you’d like a broadcast something to your readers.
On the other hand, I can’t help laugh a little bit because we’re constantly creating this “social” technology that allows us to do things like publish various aspects of our lives that it becomes incredibly easy to focus more on publishing than it does interacting.
Then again, everything in moderation right?
Seriously though, will any of you be adding your site to your phone book?

might be a cool way to put your thoughts down, then come back and edit.
but I think that it may result in a lot of rambling, well, at least in my case
lol

Sounds like a great idea for a blog …… 😉

Hmm…
Dang. Crazy coincidence. Just thought about this yesterday. I do see advantages to both. In vocal, you get tone of voice & other communication nuances you wouldn’t get in writing.
….But then again, if you want to reread something, writing doesn’t require you to rewind, either!

If this were available on self hosted WP blogs, I would probably give it a whirl, especially on one of my microlocal blogs – I could see doing on the spot audio interviews with merchants and restaurant owners. For concerts you could dial in rough recordings of each set. For a faith blog it would be neat to do a devotional read-through of books of the bible like psalms of proverbs. Now for every blog and every day posting usually, but you could find some creative content that is actually valuable to a blog audience IMHO…

Good thoughts, Kenny – especially like spot audio interviews.
