Rumors about the white iPhone and the iPhone 5 are usually a dime a dozen, appearing on obscure blogs or forums and most of the time it means little. However, when Bloomberg reports on it, the information is likely to be more legit:
Apple Inc. (AAPL) will start selling a white version of its iPhone 4 in the next few weeks, following a delay of 10 months, according to three people with knowledge of the plans.
The new model will be available from AT&T Inc. (T) and Verizon Wireless by the end of April, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public.
Over at Business Insider, they have some news on the iPhone 5:
Apple has made it known that it won’t release the new iPhone 5 in June as it usually does. Analysts think it could announce it in September. That might come with some sort of new version of the iPad 2 to shift the tablet’s release schedule to September, to take advantage of the holiday shopping season.
They don’t say, but it’s possible the push from June to September could have something to do with the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan disrupting the global electronics supply chain.
Anybody holding off on an iPhone 4 to wait for the iPhone 5?
Jonathan Blundell says
My contract with AT&T is up this month. I’ve been debating what I’ll replace my iPhone 3G with… either wait for the iPhone 5 or go Android. I’m not uber impressed with the 4G Android phones available from AT&T right now, but not wanting another 3G phone with 4G so close around the corner.
Perhaps that’s what’s holding AT&T and Apple back – Apple wants to be sure AT&T can handle the 4G traffic before it releases anything with 4G speeds.
