I have been waiting for an app like this forever…!
I could have used it last week while I was on an airplane and my battery died on my MBP – I busted out my iPad but was unable to do any web development on the projects I was working with.
No more.
Now, I can jump right back in and get to work! Check it out:
Gusto for the iPad allows you to connect via FTP to your site and make edits to your environment instantly.
A couple of features (existing and coming):
- Project-based workflow
- Tabbed editing, Line numbering, Mono-spaced font
- Frequently used keys toolbar
- Built-in FTP client
- Document publishing
- Built-in local and remote site preview
- Autosaved project state
- Import and File sharing
- iTunes
- Photo Library
- Dropbox
- Syntax highlighting
- Snippets
- Move items
- Sorting
Sweet.
It’s definitely worth the download and price tag if this is what you do.
Who’s got a copy?

LOVE it! I’m gonna go download this right now for my iPad. I was playing around with an app “WPD” but this one looks much more user friendly.

That’s gorgeous and usable and a FANTASTIC talking point to try and convince my wife to let me get an ipad!
Jonathan says
too bad no sftp yet. according to their site apps require government approval before they can use high-level encryption.
I like the projects view. Very similar to Coda.

I agree, looks very similar to Coda. And I heart Coda.
