Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect is opening a whole new world of tech control.
The concept of complete digital control without the use of touch is simply amazing, and I’m sure its accuracy is only going to get better.
Many have taken the Kinect and hacked into explored a whole new realm of possibilities. Here is a video of someone who has done just that! Complete with GitHub download!
This is a simple NodeJS server I wrote that reads OSC messages and forwards them to the client via web socket. Specifically, OSC messages generated by Bionic DJ. Consequently, you can handle Xbox Kinect information in the browser. As you can see it’s not quite steady. I’m sure it could be stabilized with more robust hand tracking. The client demo is pretty simple as well, but mostly just proof of concept. Source is on GitHub.
Can you imagine what kind of crazy stuff they’ll be coding for this in the future?
