As we dive into the seventh day of ChurchMag’s Twelve Days of Christmas (learn more), I can’t let another day go by without mentioning the multi-dimensional For A Friend.
I say, “multi-dimensional,” as they are a ‘hub’ for many different ministries and missionaries from around the world–I’m even on their website!
For A Friend
From the For A Friend website:
“Our mission is to build up the Body of Christ; encourage obedience to God’s call in Romans 12: to give freely; encourage relational ministry; and bear witness to the God who can take our gifts—however small—and use them for His purposes beyond what we can imagine. Finally, we seek to silence the lies of the enemy when he says, “you can’t afford it,” “your gift won’t make a difference,” and “someone else will pick up the slack.””
I’ve spent some time speaking with For A Friend founder Travis Graves and can tell you he’s the real deal.
Church Tech
I first learned about For A Friend when we posted about them here on ChurchMag over a year ago, as they are an excellent example of using technology to help missionaries connect with supporters. They recently had a face-lift on their website, and they’ve even shared with us some of the struggles they’ve faced with PayPal regarding non-profit status.
This Christmas
For A Friend doesn’t have a Christmas catalog or any big campaigns. They are a seriously small-time ministry that is doing a stellar job of aiding missionaries and mission groups from around the world. If you have a particular part of the world that is close to your heart, consider looking up a missionary or mission and giving to them this holiday season. Being on the mission field can be really lonely, especially those of us living overseas. You might also consider supporting For A Friend. They’re leveraging technology to build God’s Kingdom in a really cool way, and I know they’ll wisely put your support to good use.
