I’m sure that most of you have thought about this at least once since cloud computing has become more and more prevalent in our use: Why not run my own from my own home?
Well, with Tonido you can do just that: Tonido allows you to access and share ALL of your desktop’s files, documents, photos, music and videos from anywhere through a web browser or your smartphone.
No uploading, no storage limits, no nothing (except a few bucks).
They’ve pretty much removed the difficulty of setting something like this up and made it easy for even the novice.
Pretty impressed. Actually, I’m really impressed.

I actually just did this, but ended up installing Plugbox Linux on my Pogoplug (only because it was cheaper than the Tonido Plug at the time). Now I’ve installed a Samba server and Apache to allow me to stream my media to a Roku player and any of my home computers and share my USB printer on the network as well as other things.
Linux is so cool…
