A lot of things have been said about how the new Pope Francis has done things in a different way. This video is another example of this.
Recently thousands of Jesuit school children had a chance to meet and see the Pope and actually ask spontaneous questions!
What’s really striking is the honesty – of both the children and the Pope.

So often when you see public figures (both religious and secular) talk to children things are ‘dumbed down’ and have sugar coating put on (or are made ‘hip’ and ‘funky’…). I found it amazingly refreshing that the Pope spoke openly to the children. No looking down or belittling, but he spoke directly and honestly (and with a sense of fun where needed).
Jesus always gave people direct and honest answers (and welcomed children!); this video gave me a reminder that in 1 Peter 3:15,16 we’re told to:
Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. (MSG)
How often, as Christians, do we talk honestly to children (or adults!) about matters of faith?
Do you know of any good (and honest!) resources for sharing the Gospel?
Speak your mind...
