The Month of May is Digital Outreach Month, and May 15th was deemed Internet Evangelism Day.
So … Happy (Belated) Internet Evangelism Day! (If you haven’t noticed, we’ve been a little busy.)
To celebrate Internet Evangelism Day, I would like to let you know how you can get Tim Challies’ latest audio book, The Next Story, for free!
What is The Next Story about?
Even the least technical among us are being pressed from all sides by advances in digital technology. We rely upon computers, cell phones, and the Internet for communication, commerce, and entertainment. Yet even though we live in this “instant message” culture, many of us feel disconnected, and we question if all this technology is really good for our souls.
In a manner that’s accessible, thoughtful, and biblical, author Tim Challies addresses questions such as:
- How has life—and faith—changed now that everyone is available all the time through mobile phones?
- How does our constant connection to these digital devices affect our families and our church communities?
- What does it mean that almost two billion humans are connected by the Internet … with hundreds of millions more coming online each year?
Providing the reader with a framework they can apply to any technology, Tim Challies explains how and why our society has become reliant on digital technology, what it means for our lives, and how it impacts the Christian faith.
I have to listen to this.
I’ve heard Challies speak before and read his stuff.
It’s good.
So, do yourself a favor and go download his book for free from Christian Audio. It’s only available this month, so go grab it while it’s still available!
While you’re at it, let your friends know about it, too. Tweet it, Facebook Share it, or however you’re connected with your friends. This is an insightful and important piece for our generation.
Happy Internet Evangelism Day!

I am about an hour short of finishing. I have listened to about half of it twice. I thought it was pretty good, although there are lots of things that I disagree with. But, much like the churchcrunch discussion of Shane Hipps “Flickering Pixels” I think it is valuable fodder for discussion, even if there are large issues.
There is a pretty good review over at the JesusCreed Blog last Saturday. http://www.patheos.com/community/jesuscreed/2011/05/14/saturday-afternoon-book-review-tim-challies
I hope to post my own review in the next couple days if anyone is interested. I am already over 1700 words, so I will probably have to make it into a couple of posts.

Here is a summary review. http://bookwi.se/next-story-challies-summary/
I am planning on writing two more posts about specific issues that he brings up (Authority and Truth and another posts on how I think his reformed theology influences the overall book.)
I don’t agree with everything, but I think it is worth the effort, especially since it is free on audiobook right now.

I look forward to your two other posts!

My other two posts are up. But Matthew Lee Anderson’s post is probably better. He focuses more on the issue of mediation. I focus more on authority.
