Wow.
I mentioned it on Twitter the other day and I thought I’d just write it here for all to consider:
Stop complaining about not being able to order your new #iPhone4. Apple owes you nothing. Stop being a baby and check tomorrow.
Sheesh.
Of course Twitter doesn’t allow me to complete my thought but my tweet was aimed more at the people who were being over-the-top with their issues with not being able to pre-order their iPhone.
Sure, I was a little frustrated but someone clued me in on something that I had simply forgotten: How it looks to the rest of my followers (and the world) when I rant publicly about something and how that represents me as a person.
Ouch. I’ll take that one in the neck.
I’m not that type of guy who believes that businesses like Apple owe me anything for the products they build. I mean, seriously! I’m going to buy the darn thing whether I get it Thursday morning next week or Thursday morning next month.
Yet my actions (and tweets) can misrepresent me and my heart. I don’t like that feeling and I certainly don’t like being misrepresented.
Let’s keep our poise and resolve to be better than that on the web. We have much more to offer the social media buzzscape than self-righteous complaints about our inability to purchase a luxury item…

My brother works at an At&t store and you wouldn’t believe the types of people he’s seen in the past few days. One guy actually said he needed the iPhone 4 on day 1 because that would make him eligible sooner for iPhone 5 next year (WHAT?!).

When it turns into wanting it right now it can be a problem. I called AT&T and had a couple of issues, but wanted to be very nice and respectful seeing as how it has been a crazy day.
I think if I was demanding it fixed and angry it would be an issue, but a healthy expectation of hoping to order the day it was “suppose” to be available is fair.

well, here in South Africa – we will cry for months till it gets here, then cry a few months more because of the inflated price.
as for me – I will only cry if I win one, in fact I will video myself crying – no wait that may be upsetting.
