Creating environments is a growing business, especially within the Church. Or perhaps we’ve been doing it for a long time yet we haven’t spent nearly as much time, resources, strategy, and energy into making them the very best.
In either case I’m becoming more and more aware of a number of businesses that make it their business of creating amazing worship environments, people like Visioneering Studios and their attempts at evangelism through architecture and design.
Another business that just crossed my desk is Cogun:
Cogun was formed in 1970 by James R. Couchenour in response to a need for an organization committed to assisting churches with the challenges and opportunities of expansion.
Cogun partners with independent architectural firms to design and build church facilities that accommodate dreams and desires, as well as budgets.
At a leadership meeting in 2000, we defined our Sacred Purpose as…”to be the number one source for helping churches develop the right ministry space”.
Pretty neat if you ask me.
In another life I would have loved to spend my creative energies in crafting such neat environments… instead I get to do it online (which is just as good!).
Do you know any other businesses that make it their business to help ministries craft environments and build buildings?

John, thanks for the mention of Visioneering Studios. We love working with churches who are seeking to reach the unchurched and the dechurched, and who desire to see their churches lead the culture and not just react to or copy culture. We’ve had the fortune of working with like-minded companies like Cogun, and PlainJoe Studios to create church environments across the country that really lower the drawbridge to the community and create places for horizontal (people to people) and vertical (people to God) connections.
