You know someone’s got something going right when you see a slider and you instantly begin thinking about how you can implement it into one of your projects.
That’s what I thought when I saw Orbit’s super-lightweight jQuery Slider Plugin.
So, how will you use it?

This really looks impressive, especially for such a small footprint!

Nice. I’m using Chrome, and the images did all load vertically before collapsing into the slider. Not ideal, but I assume that will be fixed in the near future. For me, having the images be clickable is important. The author currently states that “allow for linking of images” is coming in the next version, which is probably the first version I’d find a use for. (I wonder what would happen if I just wrapped the image tags in tags though.)

Hmm…didn’t think that one through. My last line was supposed to be “I wonder what would happen if I just wrapped the image tags in link tags though.” But I used the HTML code for the link tag. Sorry about the weird, going-nowhere link at the end of that comment.

It looks amazing… I just can’t justify putting huge beautiful images on most of the sites I work on.
