I like to keep my files organized, but it isn’t often until I am further into a project that I realize a better way to organize. So, I re-organize them. Even with all this organization of file folders on my computer, I can still have a hard time sifting through my files to find exactly what I am looking for.
I do the same with my email, and when I’ve asked others how they organize their email, they simple say: I use search.
How do you organize your computer files?
Desktop computers are getting better about being able to search for files—even adding the ability to tag files—and it turns out: a good search engine wins out over organization every time.
Take a look:
Amazing, right!?!
We don’t need better organization, we need better search! And search engines—online and desktop—are getting better and better. Perhaps it would be wiser for me to spend less time arranging file folders and think more about how I label files and even start to tag files more, too. This brings an entirely new way of looking at data storage and usage, doesn’t it?
