Here comes another Riddle Me This!
Colton Depuy, a newly hired AV Coordinator at his church in Boise ID, sent us a question about navigating through the difficult task of working part-time at his church, managing volunteers, and the tension that can come with that as you ask unpaid help (volunteers) to assist you (paid staff).
Here’s the first part of Colton’s question:
“Hi guys, I found your podcast last week and have listened to about 1/3 of the episodes already. One of the best resources I have found, Thanks!
So I am a 24-year-old (recently hired) AV Coordinator at my church in Boise ID. I was on the Audio Team for 8 years before taking this position. Previously, we had one volunteer who headed up the teams (Audio & Presentation) but we are looking to add lighting and video, so the decision was made to hire a part-time position to head it up.
So one question is, how much to delegate vs take on my self. I work a full-time regular job plus this position and cannot always make all events. I feel bad asking a volunteer to do something when I am getting paid to be there.”
We would love a review on iTunes and feel free to ask us anything here.
Until next week…
