“When you accept the fact that your true identity includes being an overcomer, you will never settle for less than a miracle.”
Craig Groeschel
We will be reading through Nehemiah 5:1-8
As Christians, we have our defenses up when it comes to the devil, sin, and the secular world that is saturated with lust, temptation, greed, murder, and everything else. We must stand guard and fight the good fight.
Nehemiah had these worries too and we saw him post his soldiers with their spears. Yet the people came to him and noted that the biggest enemy isn’t those on the outside, it’s us within. Regardless of your views on money, debt, and interest (Sorry Dave Ramsey), what we as a whole can say is if we are causing fellow believers to fall victim to sin, we are at fault and need to repent.
I’m looking at you in church tech who say to invest in Apple or who want to upgrade the sound system just because there is new shiny stuff, without ever talking about budget. I’m looking at you who say it’s okay to spend tons of time blogging, podcasting, social marketing even when you have already put in a 55 hour work week and are neglecting your family. I’m talking to the person who says pornography only needs an app as a solution but never addresses what it does to your soul, marriage, and understanding of distorting the other sex. Shame on you! Go repent to Jesus now. You are doing more harm to Christianity than the secular world does. You are the devil’s handy work.
To those that have seen this, notice Nehemiah reaction. He was very angry. Many “heroes in the Bible expressed anger, even rage. Moses freaked out on the Israelites ad shattered the Ten Commandments. And Jesus’ reaction to the moneychangers and merchandisers in the Temple? Flipping tables and chasing the hucksters with a whip. Are you reacting to what you see from your church tech ministry? I’m not asking you to incite violence, that’s not helpful. But have you once had a conversation to address issues that you’ve noticed? Have you thought about why it’s wrong and how to get to and healthy place? Have you stepped up?
