LinkedIn may be the greatest and most ill-used social network for the professional worker. Whether you are someone looking for a job, in college and not yet looking, or in a secure job that you love and see yourself their forever, you need to be using LinkedIn weekly. For some, it is their digital resume that they setup well and then walk away from it. What they are really doing is walking away from future career opportunities, potential customers, possible future employees, and key networking with competitors or like-minded organizations.
What makes a LinkedIn user effective?
Here are three thoughts:
- 2 people join LinkedIn every second and 84% of accounts are free.
- Nearly 95% of all users are in a LinkedIn group.
- 28% of users have generated identifiable business opportunities, 76% research companies and people, and 45% build new networking relationships for the future.

I’ve been wondering for years what I would need to be on LinkedIn for. I really appreciate the stats and the info graph. Super helpful!
