Polarfox is a photo-sharing app designed to help you share your images across several social media platforms.
At. The. Same. Time.
Yes, that’s right; you can share to Facebook (Profiles, Groups, and Pages), Twitter, Tumblr, and Linkedin. But that’s not all! Several apps can do that. What sets Polarfox apart for me is that can also post these photos to your WordPress blog, both the .com and self-hosted versions.
Interested? I thought you might be.
The Good
In short: Everything. Polarfox does exactly as advertised. I’ve tried posting to Twitter, posting to my WordPress blog, posting to both, and I’ve had no issues. I don’t usually post to my Facebook profile because most images I want shared get posted to my blog which then auto-shares it on Facebook. However, I will be making use of the Facebook Pages connection because this will allow me to post photos to my church’s page.
The Bad
Initially, there was a slight hiccup with sharing to my self-hosted WordPress blog, but apparently, that was a system-wide issue that has been resolved. Also, I haven’t been able to connect my Facebook Group to the app, but I reached out to the developer and a solution should be released soon—maybe by the end of the month. Of course, it should be noted that this is version 1.0.0 of the app. There will be bugs. There will be updates.
Wrapping Up
If you love Instagram, this app isn’t for you, mostly because you can’t share from Polarfox to Instagram—Instagram won’t let third-party apps into the party. I, however, love this app. Polarfox fills the void in my social media workflow left by Pressgram. The difference, of course, is that Polarfox doesn’t have editing capabilities or a baked-in social media network—two things that I don’t really miss. Don’t get me wrong. Photo editing would be nice, but it’s not necessary. Polafox does exactly what I want: Makes posting photos to my blog easier. With a price of $1.99, I can’t imagine why a church social media director or a blogger (on ether WordPress platform) wouldn’t want this app.

Have been mourning Pressgram for a while now. I was actually thinking of asking John if he was willing to allow others to fork his code…
This seems like a strong alternative. Will check it out. Any notable updates on the app after writing this?

Haven’t noticed any updates, but I still use it, and I still love it.

This sounds pretty great Phil. I can see a real use for me in sharing my photos. It’s a bit of a shame you can share to Instagram as well but I wonder if you can set up an IFTTT action for that? 2 bucks sounds totally worth it!
Phil Schneider says
I bet you could do an IFTT from WP or FB to Instagram! Definitely worth the price.
Chris Wilson says
Yup, looked into it and you can do exactly that 🙂 I know some photographers who are going to **love** this.
