I was about to pull the trigger on this but I realized that I couldn’t quite do it because it simply does not look like I’m getting much more for my money.
iLife 2011; what am I missing (or am I missing anything at all…)?
Convince me otherwise? Or tell me that I’m the bomb by not throwing my money at the Apple giant.
Brian Ayers says
I’m planning to wait… rumor is that you’ll be able to buy the individual iLife (and iWork) programs for $9.00-$14.99 a piece from that new Mac App Store when it launches. I might upgrade a few programs I use a lot for that price.
Craig Allen says
Agreed, it looks like from the preview of “Lion” that you can buy/upgrade individual apps. If so, I will be upgrading GarageBand only.
David says
it would seem that we won’t have to wait for Lion. perhaps just until the App Store releases for Snow Leopard
Chase Livingston says
I’ll probably upgrade since I’m still running iLife ’08. Might get a family pack and split the cost between a few friends.
Chris Loach says
I watched the release video of it and it looks pretty sweet. I need to buy a new mac soon so I’ll just get it with that.
Stephen Bateman says
Well they spent 25 minutes talking about iPhoto, but I don’t really like iPhoto…But like Craig said, Garageband looks good.
Erik Scottberg says
I’m running ’08. I’ve been waiting for an update, so I’ll be taking the plunge. I’m looking forward to using the facial recognition and the integration with Flickr. Also, I’m interested to see if the new trailer maker in iMovie will be useful for a quick and easy way to create sermon intros and promos for events.
My only disappoint was that there was no mention of a new iWork. I was hoping to upgrade both.
Kevin Alton says
I wanted to but agree that there’s just not enough there. My main temptation was the visible audio in iMovie, greatly simplifying consistency in levels for editing. The rest of it looks like they went long on upscaling their templates, which seems odd because most Mac people I’ve met (until now, perhaps) aren’t template-driven, they’re drag-and-drop clean slate creators.
Maybe next time.
