I was setting up a new printer in the office.
I was on my hands and knees, under the desk, reaching behind the dusty “desktop” computer tower that was hiding as far under the desktop as possible.
My fingers danced around – looking, searching – for the USB slot. The mouse, keyboard and monitor cables were stretched tight (this is a common occurrence when you try to keep one’s PC tower hidden). There was no use trying to pull the tower into plain daylight. No, this printer was going to have to be plugged in blindly.
Now … which way does it plug in?
At the risk of being rejected by theUSB slot, I could only guess. So, with a 50/50 chance of correctly plugging the USB in the right direction, I drew a deep breath, and hoped for the best.
If only I had one of these bad boys:
The Double USB Connector
Ma Xi Xuan has developed the Double USB connector that works right side up or upside down thanks to twin spring-loaded plastic connectors on its interior.
I’ll take a dozen, please.

I wonder why nobody thought of that before. FireWire 800 is just as confusing, especially since the connector is square.

Totally agree.
I guess it IS an improvement over the old PS/2 connections … but seriously … COME ON!!!
