Whenever people look back at this point in Internet history, they’re not going to be able to say we had a shortage of great JavaScript libraries available.
Just as jQuery 1.4.3 was just recently launched along a handful of new features, MooTools 1.3 has followed suit with a number of improvements all its own.
Here are three big things worth noting in the latest release:
Slick Selector Engine
For this particular release, the developers have re-engineered MooTools selector engine (named slick) as a stand alone utility.
This means that developers are free to include this particular component of MooTools to leverage the selector functionality without needing the entire library.
Slick is available on GitHub.
Improved Namespacing
As frameworks grow, it can be a challenge to properly maintain many of the framework-level variables, objects, and functions necessary to the core functionality without polluting the global namespace.
In 1.3, the core library has been refactored to provide a much cleaner API and to better manage the organization of the code at the framework level.

Better Build Management
One of the nicest features of MooTools is the ability to build your variation of the framework prior to downloading it.
MooTools 1.3 brings an updated package processor that actually allows you to build your own packages from GitHub all the while continuing to manage dependencies for you.
Personally, I’m really interested in this model. As more projects go open source and leverage GitHub as their repository of choice, building straight from the repository may become a more common trend.
