Whenever you’re working with a web application that has some sort of asynchronous functionality such as uploading files, saving information to the backend, or retrieving a sizable amount of data, it’s a good practice to let the user know the application as working.
Typically, this is achieved by displaying an animated image such as a progress bar or a spinner and then using JavaScript to hide said image when the process has completed.
But with modern browser technology growing more and more mature, the need for animated images is going away.
Check out NetEye’s scalable activity indicator:
The NetEye Activity Indicator is a jQuery plugin that renders a spinner using SVG or VML. This means that no images are required and the spinner will size according to the resolution of the browser.
You can check out more information and download the plugin at the project’s homepage.
