So, what FTP clients are you using?
A couple of weeks ago, we talked about some of the best ways to code from the road whenever clients are unhappy and you’re mobile.
There’s always going to be more to add to the mix, though – like net2ftp.
net2ftp is a free FTP client that runs in a web browser. You don’t have to install anything or use a particular browser and it’s got all the FTP operations you’d expect.
You just navigate to the site and start working. Even cooler, the site offers plugins for popular Content Management Systems.
Kinda wish I knew about this sooner.
What FTP clients are you using?

Espresso handles my FTP right now, previously used Cyberduck. I like Espresso…it does what I need, and not much more (a true mac app).

Most of the time, I use FileZilla but there are times when I’ve used built-in features of Aptana or even FireFTP.

This is a unique idea… But – is it really secure?? This FTP site must be a dream target of many hackers already…
Yohan Perera says
I am asking not because I want to criticize some one’s hard work. But feeling cautious about this…
Tom says
Yeah, I understand. I think that’s good for anything in the online space. As far as I can tell, the UI is basically acting as a front-end to an FTP client running on the backend server.
I’d venture to say that it’s secure enough, but that doesn’t mean I’d be uploading a lot of sensitive files using this tool.
I think it’s got a good place in issues of being in a quick bind with a file or two, though.

I used to use cyberduck. I am using Flow now. Ill have to check this one out for when im not on my mac though! ๐

I use Filezilla, but for emergency changes (from work, shhhh!), I’ve always had to use the cpanel file access. I hate that thing, so I’m definitely going to give this one a shot! Thanks!
Tom says
Ha! “..emergency changes at work.” What a noob!
Actually, wait. You sound like me.. ๐

Net2FTP is now quite stale, but there’s still huge demand for web-based FTP. Have a look at Monsta FTP. It’s an FTP/SFTP web-based client and code editor. It’s free to download from http://www.monstaftp.com (disclaimer: I’m involved with this project)
