How “connected” is your community?
Look and see with the National Broadband Map.
The National Broadband Map (NBM) is a searchable and interactive website that allows users to view broadband availability across every neighborhood in the United States. The NBM was created by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), in collaboration with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and in partnership with 50 states, five territories and the District of Columbia. The NBM is a project of NTIA’s State Broadband Initiative. The NBM will be updated approximately every six months and was first published on February 17, 2011.
Just enter your home address and click FIND BROADBAND. You’ll get a small map of the area you’ve searched and see detailed information about the broadband options in the area.
This is great for the sheer curiosity, plus, you can find out what other broadband service options you may have! You might save some money or find a faster connection that suits your needs better.

Interesting. I put my address in, and I know of two broadband providers that I’ve used at my house that are missing. I see they have a box to submit a new provider, but they only update the database once every six months. Not exactly “Web 2.0,” is it?
