Over a span of 3 to 5 years, I have been the proud and happy owner of an iPhone. I owned an iPhone 4, 5, and now 6.
But, lately, I have been noticing something.
There’s a whole world out there full of great smartphones and operating systems that are just as pleasing (if not more) as the iOS. And sometimes, as far as technology goes, you just get tired of the “same ‘ole thing.”
With that, here are my 3 reasons as to why I will likely leave the iPhone universe once I’ve got my fill of the iPhone 6:
The Experience of Other Brands
While I’ll probably get a LOT of hate for this please hear me out…
Sometimes, you just get tired of the same ‘ole thing. The iPhone hasn’t really changed all too much in my opinion. Some cool little features were added and that’s great and all. But sometimes it is just nice to be able to say, “Hey, I experienced using something new and useful.”
The End of Awe
The excitement is sort of gone for me with regards to the iPhone. Again, I do enjoy using one, but when you’ve been using the same product that hasn’t really changed all that much over a course of a few years it kind of get’s old.
Perhaps my excitement for the iPhone is sort of fading and that’s probably okay. That only means that I have the opportunity to diversify and commit to other technological pursuits when it comes to smartphones.
For The Use
I use my iPhone quite a bit, but, it doesn’t necessarily add or take away all that much from the work I do or my creative experience.
In other words, I can manage without an iPhone perfectly fine.
For now at least.
In the meantime, I still need my iPhone 6 because it serves a purpose for now.
How about you?
What has your experience been like?

I agree except I’m the other way around. I’ve had an android phone from 2010 until this February. I got an iPhone to change it up because I was tired of Android and being stuck with all the modifications each brand makes to the Android system. I am not the type to root my phone so I was stuck with what it was.
I love the iPhone 6, but will I continue getting them? It will all depend on what the competitors put out in two years and what happens with the iPhone then as well. I’m no longer a slave to any specific OS.

Thanks for commenting! I completely agree with you.

For me, it’s been an issue of comparing Apples to apples. It’s easy to think that the iPhone is a better choice when you compare it to a $200 Android phone. If you REALLY want to compare, size it up with the same price point.
But that’s just from the hardware side of things.
When it comes to software, it’s been a real wash for me. When push comes to shove, I don’t get THAT much productivity done on my smartphone. In fact, most of what do would be the same experience, as the apps are on both iOS’.

You hit the nail on the head! The “price point.” I’m learning more than ever that I must do that as I go forward with that in mind as far as smartphones are concerned.

Oh I’d love to use another phone and try it out…as long as it’s running iOS, lol.

LOL, I certainly hear you there. My iPhone expereince has had a fun run and I intend to hang on to my phone for a bit. Once it’s all said and done, boom, I’ll give android a try. Should be interesting as the technology and the OS for both Apple and Android change, grow and develop.

Ive had 6 friends say the same thing…switch to Android and literally a few weeks to max months later they wanted to sell their Android phone and switch back….I guarantee you will switch back in a very short period of time….its something you’ve grown accustomed to…and what new features are you looking for on these Android phones that iPhone isn’t giving you? A curved screen???? A heart rate monitor???? June, July and August are when people start getting sick of iPhones but as soon as September rolls around and they announce the same stuff that Android does but better everyone stands in line for days to get it….

Funny, I just stumbled upon your article.
I bought the iPhone 6S two years ago, coming from Android.
I also own a Mac, an iPad and a Lenovo notebook for work.
I do like the way all devices work together. Write a note on your Mac with a real keyboard and read it on your phone! Photos taken with the phone automatically land on the mac…
BUT: there have always been thing annoying me with iOS.
– Still no Apple Swiping keyboard for example (my third party purchased keyboard app bugs endlessly). The writing experience on the iOS keyboard is mediocre.
– No real file explorer: a movie on my iPad couldn’t be read by VLC. Sure, I was able to download another player. But for it to be able to access the movie file, you need to copy the movie via iTunes. Tedious.
– The killer is iOS 11. My phone isn’t throttled (CPU works at max. frequency), but the phone started lagging terribly the day I upgraded. Writing is even worse, as some letters are skipped (and I’m a rather slow typist!). No downgrade option.
– And to make things worse, apple constantly downloads new iOS versions on the iPhone/iPad without even asking (1GB<file). And repeats this even once the file has been deleted. I ended up blocking OTA downloads on my router!
For me it’s clear: I won’t upgrade the OS anymore for the next three years. And when it’s time to get a new device (I’m sure I can keep the 6S that long, as long as I can make calls, send messages, read news and take pictures), there will undoubtedly be better options than Apple iPhones.
Cheers.
