Back in college we were given a video project: Find some of your favorite movie scenes without dialogue and replace the audio with something uncharacteristic.
The purpose of this exercise was to teach us a very important lesson in video production: Music matters.
In a medium that puts so much focus on visuals, it’s easy to overlook (see what I did there) sound.
Having just watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a family (of course it was the extended director’s cut, did you really have to ask?), I was reminded once again to the importance of music:
