Does Emoji Equality Make A Difference?

At the beginning of the year, I made a goal that I wanted to talk more about the gender inequality in the tech world and begin to have a discussion if this is also present within the church tech world.

Well, this conversation has taken a unique turn as Google, who is one of the many tech companies who are discussing gender inequality, is now trying to push gender equality with emojis.

As Google points out in the blog article, we use emojis a lot. We even now have a Bible translation with emojis. It would make sense we need to have women in professions on the list to chose from. Unfortunately, the list is sadly still 1900s-ish.

The Multiscreen World [Infographic]

I am a device fiend when it comes to the digital world. I never ‘just’ watch television or computer work. If the college football game is on, I’m looking up other scores, stats, or news. If I am streaming church while at home sick, I’m almost always doing some multitasking (they call it stacking on the infographic below) for other pieces of the ministry. Even writing this blog article, I’m listening to a podcast at the same time.

Canva for iPhone: Make Great Graphics on the Go

For a long time I’ve known how important images and graphics are for blogging, churches, and ministries in this more modern digital age. They help to deliver the message you want and insure that you give off the right impression. However, not all of us are graphic designers have a natural knack for making leaflets, presentation slides, or social media images. With that in mind, Tools like Canva have been great for many church communication teams and individuals to help them make high quality graphics for free (as long as you don’t buy the premium add-ons.)

Now Canva has put out an iPhone app to go along with their web app and iPad app, to bring the power of Canva wherever you are. [Yes, there is no Android app yet. Don’t complain to me, complain to the makers of Canva.]

Sky Force Reloaded [Saturday Morning Review]

I fell in love with Skyforce 2014.

iDreams made a top down shooter that I actually enjoyed. With beautiful graphics, engaging gameplay that didn’t feel prolonged with in app purchases, and quirky characters, I felt right at home in a genre that always ends up alienating me.

So when I heard that Skyforce Reloaded hit the Play Store (and iTunes), I fell in love all over again.
