Adjusting to Android : Rejecting iPhone Idolatry
A good while ago, I wrote about how the last iPhone I would use is the iPhone 6. That turned out to be sooner than I thought when one faithful Sunday afternoon, after church, I dropped my iPhone.
While outside talking to my mother on the church parking lot, I accidentally dropped my iPhone 6 on the concrete. The cheap little iPhone 6 case was no match for the abrasive impact as my iPhone 6 screen shattered.
I thought that the screen was the only thing damaged, but I would later find out that the phone’s basic functions are also messed up too.

For Writers on the Go: Scrivener for iOS [Review]
One of my first posts for ChurchMag was about how you could use Scrivener to organise your bible study notes and why this might be worth considering, especially if you might one day want to publish them. That was a long time ago now and since then I’ve used Scrivener many times for different projects. However, recently I’ve been using my iPad more and more to do everything as I find it is better at doing my regular tasks. With that in mind, the news that Scrivener has finally come out with an iPad app (having been working on it for many years) was joy to my ears.
But would it live up to its desktop partners great reputation or would it be another case of a lightweight companion app to a more powerful brother.

Canva for iPhone: Make Great Graphics on the Go
For a long time I’ve known how important images and graphics are for blogging, churches, and ministries in this more modern digital age. They help to deliver the message you want and insure that you give off the right impression. However, not all of us are graphic designers have a natural knack for making leaflets, presentation slides, or social media images. With that in mind, Tools like Canva have been great for many church communication teams and individuals to help them make high quality graphics for free (as long as you don’t buy the premium add-ons.)
Now Canva has put out an iPhone app to go along with their web app and iPad app, to bring the power of Canva wherever you are. [Yes, there is no Android app yet. Don’t complain to me, complain to the makers of Canva.]

Using A Screencast for Remote Assistance
Recently I was trying to help my folks out with a technology issue (something I’m sure many of you are familiar with). As they described the issue, I wasn’t exactly sure what they were doing and they didn’t have the words to fully express the idea. However, I had an idea, maybe they could show me what the issue was so I could tell them how to solve the problem.
MileIQ: The Perfect Mile Logging App
As a home business owner, I’m constantly looking for ways to make my admin less work. One of the biggest deductions (under the US tax system at least) you can get as a small business owner, is for work-related travel, including miles driven with your own car. However, to claim that deduction you need a solid mileage registration system. Doing it by hand was never going to work, so I started looking into apps.
After reading some reviews of different apps, I decided to give MileIQ a try. And I love it.
