I downloaded Word Lens years ago.
As a Spanish teacher, I thought I’d found a perfect resource. Sadly, I couldn’t find a good use for it in my class.
Then, a few months ago, I was speaking to a friend who was preparing to head to the mission field. We started talking about his plans for language school and the best ways to learn language.
That’s when I remembered Word Lens.
I think I just found the perfect kid camera app.
As it says on their website, “KidCam is designed for kids, built for parents.”
No kidding!
KidCam is built for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. I use it for my iPod. 🙂
The biggest problem I have with letting my kids use my iPod, is when they get a little video and photo ‘happy.’ Don’t get me wrong, I love it when they do that, but I’ve got limited space PEOPLE!
But that isn’t all KidCam boasts…
I remember when my parents got a encyclopedia set. It was volumes and volumes of the most interesting things imaginable. If I needed to look something up for school, I would often end-up getting sidetracked reading about something else. Sometimes I would even randomly crack open a volume and just start browsing, looking for something that caught my eye (channel surfing?). I never walked away from the encyclopedia bookshelf without knowing more about the world than before picking up one of those large, black bound books. Now with online tools like Wikipedia, that set of Encyclopedia Britannica holds but only a fraction of the amount of data in comparison.
