I’m not a Roman Catholic and so a lot of the spiritual practices of the Church allude me in terms of both practice and understanding but I can appreciate it all nonetheless!

Someone passed me this app that helps Catholics (and Christ-Followers) participate in what’s called the Liturgy of the Hours:

The Liturgy of the Hours or Divine Office (latin: liturgia horarum) is the official set of daily prayers prescribed by the Catholic Church to be recited at the canonical hours by the clergy, religious orders, and laity.

The Liturgy of the Hours consists primarily of psalms supplemented by hymns and readings. Together with the Mass, it constitutes the official public prayer life of the Church.

Very cool.

Sugar Creek has publicly launched their code-base for their mobile application Communique.

The application has these features currently:

• Display recent messages/sermons with support for video, audio or both
• A news tab that lists the content of an RSS feed
• A media tab for other videos that the church would like to share with its community
• Two different views that give general information such as website, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, address and phone numbers

You can download it right here on their github location.

I personally love their heart behind doing this, because they certainly didn’t have to!

This is pretty neat.

This iPhone app which recently launched lets people from around the world have their prayers heard in Jerusalem. The app, named jPray, allows the users to record a 45-second prayer, schedule the time of day they would like their pray to be played and is then broadcast via a sound system facing Jerusalem’s Old City walls.

The Orange Conference is happening right now and launched an iPhone App to help conference goers get the information they need.

Beyond just the speakers, they have also provided such helpful information such as local restaurants for the starving masses!

Brilliant (and very practical and useful).
